Writing a task brief.

01 · The problem

A chat prompt is not a task. When the work is real, you need a brief that would still make sense if you handed it to a colleague tomorrow.

02 · The prompt

Ask the agent to turn your messy notes into a brief with job, outcome, context, limits, and a definition of done. Then read it as if you were the colleague.

Notes into a brief

Turn these notes into a task brief I could hand to a colleague. Use headings: Job, Outcome, Context, Limits, Done.
Notes: weekend drawing class, one page, adults, ten o’clock, tea on the back table, no hype, I need to print it Friday.
03 · Try it

If a heading is empty, the notes were thin. Fill it yourself before you delegate.

Job: write the welcome page. Outcome: one printed page for adults. Context: Saturday drawing; start at ten; tea on the back table; print Friday. Limits: no hype; one page. Done: I can print it without another edit for tone.

04 · What you made

A brief that stands on its own. If you would not hand it to a person, do not hand it to an agent.
