Agents sound complicated, but the first useful one is tiny. Give it a single goal, a couple of tools, and a rule for when it is done.
Start with a boring job
Pick a task you already do every week, like summarising support emails or drafting a changelog. Boring tasks have clear inputs and outputs, which makes them perfect for a first agent.
Add tools one at a time
Begin with read-only tools. Once the agent reliably finds the right information, let it draft. Only then let it act.
